ABOUT ME

Olav Rixen
General Manager

Born and raised in Germany, I moved to Vancouver, B.C., Canada in 1973, where I lived and worked for the next 27 years. In December of 2000 I moved back to Germany and started my translation business in the summer of 2001. Since then I have translated countless documents in all kinds of fields for numerous German and European translation agencies and clients. In August of 2008 I moved back to Vancouver.

While German is my native language, having lived and worked in an English-speaking country for such a long time is a huge advantage for any translator, since it allowed me to become intimately familiar with the culture and language use of the place. My translations therefore always reflect the correct style and language register in both languages and read like originals.

Since the quality of my translations is my calling card, I am enough of a professional to know that in some cases I have to decline a translation job because I know I can’t provide the quality the text deserves. This is usually the case when a text is chock full of specialized technical terms in fields outside my expertise.
