RATES / PAYMENT
![]()
As you can imagine, it takes a lot longer to translate a complicated legal or technical text than a simple business letter. Since I charge per word (industry standard) and not by the hour, this fact has to be reflected in my rates, which therefore very much depend on the nature of the text to be translated.
My rates in Canadian dollars are therefore structured as follows:
| Translations: |
|
| Simple texts in MS-Word format | from $ 0.15 per word |
| Texts of medium difficulty or texts in PDF or PowerPoint format | from $ 0.18 per word |
| Highly complex texts or extensive formatting requirements | $ 0.21 – 0.25 per word |
| Proofreading: | $ 30.00/hour |
There is a minimum charge of $ 35.00 for short translations of up to 250 words. There will also be a 20% surcharge for any work accepted outside of regular business hours (Mo – Fri, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) or on weekends or holidays.
All invoices are payable upon receipt, no later, however, than within 30 days of the invoice date. This means that my account must have been credited by the invoice amount within that time. Any late payments are subject to a 2% monthly surcharge.
